About Us

A journey lead by a passion for food began two years back, and though it is nowhere close to the end, it is perhaps the right time to celebrate Rohit Narang’s dream which really had been with him since his boyhood days. ‘Crusty Gourmet Pizzas’ came into existence after an immense amount of effort put in by Narang and his partner-in-crime Honey Mehta in 2013, but it has had a colourful array of events that provide for a great success story which shan’t go unheard. As a young boy, Narang wasn’t much different from kids his own age, except for his love for cooking. “I used cook often and role play as the Head Chef at home”, he recalls with a chuckle, “and sometimes would never let my mother cook.” As the years went by, a lot changed in his life but the vision of cooking never separated itself from Narang’s personality. As a consequence, he decided to move to Australia to pursue his passion professionally, studying for a degree in Hotel Management. Given the rich culture of food and restaurants Australia entails, Narang had opportunities to work with some of the bigger names in their restaurant industry- one of them being none other than Hilton- which he did pursue to their end. But there remained a void that needed fulfillment, and the dream to have something of his own persisted. To take a beginner’s step in that direction, he planned to open a food truck while still in Australia, but for reasons best understood by difficulties of business, the model did not turn out to be a suitable one for him. It is no less than an unspoken achievement for Narang to not have been let down by the failed attempt abroad. If anything, it provided him with a greater impetus to give shape to his vision back home. A dedicated year and a half was invested by Narang and co-founder Mehta to give birth to ‘Crusty Gourmet Pizzas’, charting out routes and deciding on the city that would be best suited for their model of a food joint. After various considerations regarding the cities and markets around, the two restaurateurs came to a consensus of setting up their first joint at Galleria Market in Gurgaon. Looking back at the initial days after the establishment of Crusty, Narang recalls how he and Mehta used to wait for hours for customers in the tiny space at the first floor of the market. Of course, giving up was out of question now, with all that belief they had devoted in their product. Soon Crusty gained its own line of loyal customers in and around Gurgaon. Ever since its inception, Crusty has won awards like "Half Pizza Marathon" and "Best Pizza in Gurgaon" and gained appreciation across the spectrum of food critics and restaurant industry gurus. The journey continues, no doubt, but a humble Narang credits their achievements to their regular customers and fans who believed in him and Mehta, and most of all, in their collective vision of ‘Crusty’.
